Anne and Chencho were great. They tailored our itinerary, and spent considerable time reorganising it when we needed to make modifications at the last minute. Nothing was too much trouble. Service on tour was outstanding. As the only guests on a private 2-person tour, everything centred around us. Start times, destinations, food, walking itinerary. Thank you for managing to put in so much walking. Almost every day. 2- 4 hours. Just perfect. Next time we’ll do a long-distance path and there will definitely be a next time.
Some of the highlights were:
- The walk up to the farmhouse was beautiful along the river, and then to arrive in the valley at Gasa.
- The walk around Phobjikha from the Gangtey monastery was also beautiful, we loved the yak.
- The walk up to the monastery from Dochula Pass (between Thimphu and Paro was hard work, really hard work, but worth it).
- The walk up to the monastery from Thimphu, where we had a cup of tea served by a young monk was lovely because we were the only ones there, and the view was fabulous. And I love butter tea.
- And of course, Tiger’s Nest. Stopping at the tea house on the way down was lovely.
- Staying at the farmhouse in Damji. We loved just sitting in the kitchen, watching the cooking, it really was nice to sit observing the family and preparation rather than simply being served a meal in the dining room.
We always felt completely safe and well taken care of. Such a strange feeling in a foreign country.

We had an absolutely fabulous journey. The most we have appreciated was, that Chencho remembered what we did on our visit seven years ago, so he could take us to yet unknown sites. Also, we very much loved the walks through the rice fields and seeing the farmers harvesting.
The hike around Phobjikha valley was amazing. We have a valley in Switzerland that looks almost the same. I kept telling Gilbert 100 times about this. He agreed when he saw this beautiful place, we'll never forget.
Also, we met the famous writer Mrs Kunsang Choden. I read some books written by her, after my first trip. I knew she lived somewhere in Bhutan, but you cannot imagine my joy when I met her in Tang valley.!!! Incredible.
There is one thing I find unfair. In Lonely Planet (french edition) you can read as follows:
“For Bhutan you have to pay 250 US per day/person. That makes it one of the most expensive countries on the planet.....”. OK, further on they mention, what this all includes, but I think this comment puts Bhutan in a false light. They should also mention where this money goes.
Last but not least "the cherry on the cake" I don't know if you say that in english. but in french it means, the best of the very best, Well the cherry of the cake for us was the hotel in Paro Valley. Laying on my bed I could see Taktsang!!! You can imagine... our comments for the next day, wondering if we'll manage it or not?
Besides that, Paro Valley is so beautiful as well. This Hotel is the top, emotionally, both before and after being up to Tiger's Nest.
Thanks again to you and Chencho for your perfect organisation. We will nourish our mind every day with these splendid memories. Wish you all the best for the future, good business and a healthy happy life. We highly recommend your company.

Our experience with Bhutan Thori Tours was perfect. We had a short but special tour in Bhutan and our Guide and Driver were the best, taking care of all our needs and providing excellent information at all the sites. We went on a 5-day tour, Paro, Thimphu and Punakha. Our guide was experienced, informative, fun and had a sense of humour. We were very happy to have him as he welcomed us to his country of happiness.
During the hike to Tango and Tiger’s Nest, my companion, who was a little unfit, had difficult times and our guide was a great help for her. I couldn’t thank him enough for his assistance.
On the last night of our trip, I was surprised with a birthday cake and small gift from Bhutan, I couldn’t remember the last time I blew out birthday candles and was very thrilled by this special thought. Thank you to the team at Bhutan Thori Tours for your patience, professionalism and making our trip memorable. You went beyond our expectations.

We travelled to Bhutan for a 10day trip and arranged our travel with Bhutan Thori Tours. They were very flexible with integrating any changes we requested. The itinerary was great, covered a wide swath of western Bhutan and I felt we got a really good experience of Bhutan. We did a lot of hiking to various temples and sacred places. We rafted along the male river in Punakha, went to a farmers’ market in Thimphu, enjoyed local hot spring and farm house hospitality in Gasa, walked the marshlands of Phobjikha valley and hiked the mountain to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) in Paro. Bhutan is a spiritual place with some of the friendliest people. Our guide was the best – very knowledgeable, fun, accommodating and helpful. Bhutanese food tends to be spicy but I loved that – the local traditional dish chili cheese was a favourite (but it is hot, so be warned). Thanks to Bhutan Thori Tours for such a memorable trip.

We booked our tour with Bhutan Thori Tours for a 8 day tour. We were 5 ladies and had a happy & memorable stay in Bhutan. Our tour guide & driver are very friendly & knowledgeable on Bhutan & Buddhist history. Especially our tour guide did his best to satisfy our requirements all the way, e.g, like special Chinese food preparation, viewpoints for taking picture, handle good balance for different requests from everybody & good arrangement & review for daily programs. Both of driver & tour guide worked very hard in order to give 5 of us a memorable Bhutan trip forever. We all like them and appreciated their professional and dedication. Thank’s Chencho, Sangay and the team at Bhutan Thori Tours.
